Deleting Your Account

If you decide to leave Frontend Mentor, you have the option to permanently delete your account. This guide explains the deletion process and what you should know before proceeding.

Where to Find Account Deletion

  1. Click on your avatar in the top-right corner of any page
  2. Select Settings from the dropdown menu
  3. Scroll to the bottom of your settings page
  4. Look for the Delete account section or button

What Gets Deleted

When you delete your account, all of your data is permanently removed from Frontend Mentor. This includes:

  • Your profile information
  • All solutions you have submitted
  • Comments you have made
  • Your challenge progress
  • Achievements and badges earned
  • Any other data associated with your account

This data cannot be recovered after deletion.

Confirmation Safeguards

To prevent accidental deletion, Frontend Mentor has safeguards in place:

  1. You will be asked to confirm your decision before the deletion proceeds
  2. You will need to type in your username to confirm
  3. The system will clearly warn you about the permanence of this action

Take your time during the confirmation process to ensure you really want to proceed.

Active Subscription Requirement

You cannot delete your account if you have an active subscription.

If you are currently subscribed to Frontend Mentor Pro:

  1. First, cancel your subscription
  2. Wait for your subscription period to end, or ensure it is fully cancelled
  3. Then return to delete your account

This requirement ensures that billing and subscription matters are properly resolved before account deletion.

This Action is Irreversible

Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. Once you confirm the deletion:

  • Your account is immediately removed
  • There is no grace period or recovery option
  • You cannot restore your solutions, comments, or progress
  • If you return to Frontend Mentor, you will need to create a brand new account and start fresh

Consider Alternatives Before Deleting

Before you delete your account, consider these alternatives:

  • Take a break: You can simply stop using the platform and return later. Your account and progress will remain intact.
  • Adjust notifications: If emails are the issue, turn off notifications in your settings instead of deleting your account.
  • Update your profile: If privacy is a concern, you can remove personal information from your profile without deleting the entire account.
  • Reach out for help: If you are having issues with the platform, contact Frontend Mentor support. They may be able to help resolve your concerns.

Deleting your account is a significant decision. Make sure you have considered all options and understand the consequences before proceeding.
