Updating Your Profile
Your profile is how other members of the Frontend Mentor community get to know you. This guide walks you through updating all aspects of your profile, from your display name to social links.

Accessing Your Profile Settings
- Click on your avatar in the top-right corner of any page
- Select Settings from the dropdown menu
- You will land on the Profile section by default
Updating Your Display Name
Your display name appears on your profile, solutions, and comments throughout the site.
- In the Profile settings, locate the Display name field
- Enter your preferred name
- Click Save changes at the bottom of the form
Changing Your Email Address
Your email address is used for account notifications and communications.
- Find the Email field in your Profile settings
- Enter your new email address
- Click Save changes
- You may need to verify your new email address
Writing Your Bio
Your bio gives other members a quick introduction to who you are. You have a maximum of 300 characters to work with.
- Locate the Bio text area
- Write a brief description about yourself
- Keep an eye on the character count to stay within the 300-character limit
- Click Save changes
Adding Your Location
Let others know where you are based.
- Find the Location field
- Enter your city, country, or region
- Click Save changes
Adding Your Website
Link to your personal website or portfolio.
- Find the Website field
- Enter the full URL of your website (including
https://) - Click Save changes
Connecting Social Links
You can connect various social and developer platform profiles to your Frontend Mentor account. The following platforms are supported:
- Bluesky
- CodePen
- Codewars
- Dev.to
- freeCodeCamp
- GitLab
- Hashnode
- Mastodon
- Medium
- StackOverflow
- Twitch
- X/Twitter
- YouTube
To add a social link:
- Scroll to the social links section of your Profile settings
- Find the platform you want to connect
- Enter your username or profile URL as indicated
- Click Save changes
You can add as many or as few social links as you like.
Uploading an Avatar
Your avatar appears next to your name across the site.
- In your Profile settings, find the avatar upload section
- Click to upload a new image
- Select an image file from your computer
- Ensure your image is 250KB or smaller in file size
- Click Save changes
For best results, use a square image.
GitHub Link
Your GitHub profile link is automatically connected when you sign up or log in using GitHub OAuth. This link is read-only and cannot be manually edited.
If you need to change your connected GitHub account, you would need to manage this through your authentication settings.
Remember to click Save changes after making any updates to ensure your changes are applied.
