Solution retrospective

What are you most proud of, and what would you do differently next time?

I'm most proud of successfully implementing a responsive navigation menu that adapts to different screen sizes and user interactions. It was satisfying to see the mobile menu toggle work smoothly with both a hamburger icon and a close button.

Next time, I would focus earlier on using classList.toggle() for cleaner logic instead of manually manipulating style.display, which became a bit repetitive. I would also set up media queries more strategically from the start to avoid display bugs across different viewports.

What challenges did you encounter, and how did you overcome them?

One major challenge was debugging a display inconsistency between my local environment and the GitHub-hosted version. The close button (.closeMenu) was showing on GitHub but not locally, which turned out to be due to default display values and possibly cached or case-sensitive asset issues.

I overcame this by explicitly setting display: none for the .closeMenu element in my CSS and carefully managing visibility with JavaScript. I also cleaned up redundant logic and ensured consistent behavior using the browser’s dev tools and console logs.

What specific areas of your project would you like help with?

I'd appreciate feedback on:

Refactoring the toggle logic: Is there a cleaner or more modern way to handle the mobile menu toggling with better accessibility?

Responsiveness: Are my media queries properly structured, or could the layout be improved for various screen sizes?

Code structure: Would using a framework or utility-first CSS (like Tailwind) have simplified some parts of this project?
