    This is actually pretty good! I would only use more CSS variables, and approach the design with mobile first idea. And also use more comments. I also would prefer to wrap my images in a container, just as you did for the avatar, and fit the image to the container, and auto calculate the width or the height to be more precise. Images can be really nasty.
