News homepage with collapsable navbar

This is my first attempt at a Level 2 challenge on this site and I'm feeling good about the work I did. This is the first time I've worked on constructing a collapsible navbar all on my own and I struggled a lot with it, though I wanted to figure it out without bootstrap.

My solution involved creating two ULs: one for desktop set, to display:none; while in mobile view, and then a second UL contained within the sidebar. I'm wondering if there's a more efficient way to do this? Thanks everyone :)
