Solution retrospective
It was a bit challenging to add the shadow behind the menu mobile devices, but I used a shadow-box and all was fine. I need to ensure this homepage is accessible for those using screen readers, but I am happy with it so far. I should also make the menu slide from the right to the left on mobile.
