Solution retrospective
Adding the responsive elements was quite annoying with Tailwind. I didn't realise until too late that Tailwind implements a mobile-first system for their breakpoints, so I had to create a custom one. Next time I'll try creating the mobile design first and adjusting it for larger screens at the end.
