Semantic HTML5 markup CSS custom properties Flexbox

I have an issue of resizing SVG files and using it as background-image. I used the ::before and ::after pseudo element to introduce these SVG files into the required sections but it proved abortive because I could not resize the SVG files to fit in well (I did not include the code in the css file). I would crave for your assistance on this. Also please rate other aspects.
