Solution retrospective
This is my first attempt at building a theme switch toggle. For the markup, I went with a checkbox based on the implementation found at https://web.dev/building-a-switch-component/. My next goal is to experiment with other methods for building toggle switches such as radio buttons and common buttons. Any suggestions for improvement are welcome.
