Available badges

Frontend Mentor awards badges to recognize member contributions and milestones. These badges appear on your profile and serve as a visual record of your achievements.

Beta Member

The Beta Member badge is awarded to early platform users who joined Frontend Mentor during its initial launch phase. This badge can't be earned by new members and represents being part of the community from its earliest days.

Mentor of the Week

These badges are awarded to the top three contributors on the weekly leaderboard:

  • Mentor of the Week (1st place) - Awarded to the member with the highest weekly Mentor Score
  • Mentor of the Week (2nd place) - Awarded to the second-highest weekly scorer
  • Mentor of the Week (3rd place) - Awarded to the third-highest weekly scorer

Mentor of the Month

These badges recognize the top monthly contributors:

  • Mentor of the Month (1st place) - Awarded to the member with the highest monthly Mentor Score
  • Mentor of the Month (2nd place) - Awarded to the second-highest monthly scorer
  • Mentor of the Month (3rd place) - Awarded to the third-highest monthly scorer

Mentor of the Year

These prestigious badges honor the most dedicated annual contributors:

  • Mentor of the Year (1st place) - Awarded to the member with the highest yearly Mentor Score
  • Mentor of the Year (2nd place) - Awarded to the second-highest yearly scorer
  • Mentor of the Year (3rd place) - Awarded to the third-highest yearly scorer

How badges are earned

Leaderboard badges

Mentor of the Week, Month, and Year badges are automatically awarded when the relevant time period ends. If you finish in the top three positions on any leaderboard at the end of that period, you receive the corresponding badge.

You can earn multiple instances of the same badge. For example, if you place first on the weekly leaderboard three times, you'll have three Mentor of the Week (1st place) badges.

Beta Member badge

The Beta Member badge was awarded automatically to accounts created during the platform's beta period. There is no way to earn this badge now that the beta phase has ended.

Badges display on your profile

All badges you've earned appear on the Achievements tab of your profile page. This dedicated tab provides a space for your unlocked badges and milestones, allowing other community members to see your achievements and contribution history at a glance.

Badges serve as a form of social proof, indicating to others that you're an active and valuable member of the community.

Badge count

Your profile displays a count of how many badges you've earned, with one exception:

  • Counted badges - All Mentor of the Week, Month, and Year badges are included in your badge count. If you've earned the same badge multiple times, each instance counts separately.

  • Beta badge exception - The Beta Member badge isn't included in your badge count. It appears on your profile but doesn't add to your numerical badge total.

This distinction keeps the badge count focused on earned achievements rather than legacy status from early platform membership.
