Unlocking your Talent Profile

Before you can create a Talent Profile, you need to earn 150 mentor score points. This requirement helps ensure that candidates on the Hiring Platform have demonstrated their skills and engagement with the Frontend Mentor community.

Why the requirement exists

The 150-point threshold serves several purposes:

  • It ensures candidates have real experience with challenges
  • It demonstrates your ability to complete projects and engage with the community
  • It gives recruiters confidence that profiles represent genuine, active developers
  • It helps maintain the quality of the candidate pool on the Hiring Platform

Checking your current points

To see how many mentor score points you've earned:

  1. Go to your profile page
  2. Look for your mentor score displayed near your profile information
  3. This shows your current total points

You can also see a breakdown of how you've earned your points, helping you understand which activities contribute to your score.

Ways to earn points faster

If you're working toward the 150-point unlock, focus on these high-value activities:

Submit quality solutions

Completing challenges earns you points. Focus on writing clean, well-structured code and submitting polished solutions. Higher difficulty challenges earn more points.

Provide helpful feedback

Leaving thoughtful feedback on other developers' solutions is one of the best ways to earn points. Quality matters more than quantity. Feedback that genuinely helps someone improve their code is valued by the community and reflected in your score.

Engage consistently

Regular participation builds your score over time. Rather than trying to earn all your points in one burst, consistent engagement with the platform tends to be more effective.

Focus on quality over quantity

Both solutions and feedback earn more points when they're high-quality. A well-crafted solution or a detailed, helpful code review contributes more to your score than multiple rushed submissions.

What happens at 150 points

Once you reach 150 mentor score points:

  1. The Talent Profile option becomes available in your account settings
  2. You can begin filling out your professional profile
  3. After completing the required sections, you can make your profile visible to recruiters

Reaching the threshold doesn't automatically create your profile. You'll still need to set it up and choose when to activate it. This gives you control over when you appear on the Hiring Platform.
