I have some phantom space in my center div that I can't get to go away. Any advice or resources to look at to help me figure it out would be appreciated.

I had an issue with using a background image and adding color overlay for the image. When using the background image command the box would disappear completely only leaving text. My work around was to increase the image transparency and then change the background color.

Is there a better way to get the color overlay effect over the picture while keeping it within the div?
