Solution retrospective
The tough part of this one was styling the slider. Turns out there's no easy way to do that in a cross-browser fashion without using browser-specific pseudo-elements, CSS variables, and a little Javascript. Here's what I was able to come up with. Let me know what you think, and what I can do to improve.
