Robert Horosewski

@horoserpNew Hampshire310 points

I am currently looking for a position as a Frontend Developer. I have been developing sites for over two years using React, HTML, CSS and JS. I have completed many courses through Coursera and W3Schools that have aided me in my coding journey. I hope to use FEM to improve my skills and networking.

I’m currently learning...

I am currently learning more about React, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. I hope to build on my skills in Bootstrap and learn more about SASS/SCSS and Tailwind CSS.

    • Any thoughts on the CSS...I used a mobile-first workflow for the first time.
    • I know I could have improved my JavaScript validation, it just eluded me. I couldn't get e.preventDefault() to work and thus had to add onsubmit="return false" to stop the page refresh. I was also unsure of how to submit the actual form once I did this.

I feel like I should be able to get the "Required" message from Yup to display immediately after submission of an empty string. The html required message comes up immediately, but not the Yup error message.

    Great start!

If you are looking for a good, free JavaScript course, I used W3Schools.com. Here is a direct link to the JavaScript course:

    https://www.w3schools.com/js/default.asp

You only have to pay if you want to get a certificate...you can take the course just to learn.

Keep it up and Happy Coding!

What are you most proud of, and what would you do differently next time?

I had a hard time with spacing and responsiveness. I forgot to add the hover and errors but I intend to get back to this project in the future. My main go was to finish it!

What challenges did you encounter, and how did you overcome them?

    Reponsiveness and spacing

    Hi Kyvia,

Great start! Validation using JavaScript can be daunting...so I get not doing it and starting slow.

As for your responsiveness, I am guessing that the provided "illustration" is what is causing you grief. Make sure you set a max-width on the image (I believe it is your hero class) so that your content doesn't go outside the width of the user's device. You can then change that in your media queries as appropriate.

Keep it up and happy coding!

Great Job! I love how you used checkValidity() for form validation.

    Looks awesome!

If you want to make the box-shadow on the sign-up button look even better, increase your blur-effect and add a spread-radius.

    Keep it up!

What are you most proud of, and what would you do differently next time?

What I am most proud of was able to balance the logo and header in the same grid column. What i would do differently is to make the image responsive with less code.

What challenges did you encounter, and how did you overcome them?

Making the image responsive and putting each word in the header on a new line.

What specific areas of your project would you like help with?

I would like help with an easier way to make the image responsive than what I did and just generally any changes to anything that I did wrong or bad coding practices that was done during the project.

    Looking good so far!

I might suggest you move the Frontend Mentor <footer> to the bottom of your <body>, right above your above the <footer>.

As for your use of the image, you might try the <picture> introduced in HTML5. Here is a link discussing it: https://www.w3schools.com/TAGS/tag_picture.asp

    Keep up the great work!

This was my first time using Sass for CSS

What specific areas of your project would you like help with?

I know my box-shadow for the cards isn't quite like the Figma design - I could use help with this.

For the box-shadow, try drastically increasing the blur (to lighten the shadow) and adding a negative spread radius (to reduce its size).
